Are there any psychologist who deal with chronic mental health issues?

Are there any psychologist who deal with chronic mental health issues?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask - don't know where this belongs.

Are there psychologists out there that actually deal with chronic mental health issues? Not looking for names, just wanting to know if they even exist. Whenever I google this kind of thing the results come back with results for "chronic illness and injury psychology".

If they exist, is there a term I can use to find them?

Many thanks

Hey @Jlol, great question and thanks for posting it for the community to respond!

A couple of things come to mind for straight away and you may have heard of these in the past.

  • Complext mental health (CMH) is a term used in the mental health sector.
  • Treatment resistant is a term used for people who do not respond to medications and therapys.

Maybe give those a try and see what comes up for you!

Take care

I’d probably be looking for a clinical psychologist instead of perhaps a registered psychologist. Clinical psychs have more experience/qualifications. @Jlol
