Bored at work

Bored at work

My work is repetitive and a little bit (a lot) boring. At least it's not as physically strenuous as my previous job. I complete work tasks efficiently and is proactive in asking for more job tasks. But I guess the work can be too easy that it makes me wonder why I am there in the first place.

Am I being to hard on myself? Can work be easygoing mentally and not intellectually demanding?

I actual tried browsing for more jobs after reaching the 3 month milestone for being hired and there is no way I would ever be able to find another job if I am fired. So I must do my best to stay employed even though sometimes I wish I had my previous job back.

I guess work shouldn't be "fun" and this is how real adults live so I must adapt and accept it.

Does anyone else find their work/job to be kind of boring too?

Re: Bored at work

Hey @FearofUnknown I don’t think you’re being hard on yourself by being honest with yourself!

I’ve had times when I’ve felt bored of the same old routine too. I wonder if you’re able to ask for a novel task? The place I used to work at actually offered it, the manager was really understanding and said that if I had any ideas, I could work on it and present it to them.

Work doesn’t have to be fun but if YOU WANT a fun job, then you deserve to find one. Some people care about their work and some people don’t as much. But it’s up to each individual to decide that - for me, my work does need to be stimulating to a degree. It sounds like you want more out of the role and I hope you’re able to get it. After all, we do spend almost 1/3 of our lives working, might as well find ways to enjoy it.
