Self care by growing a garden

Re: Self care by growing a garden

I grew several of these Tipuana Tipu trees - from seed collected from shopping centre carpark

They're a Legume (like Wattles & my Carob tree) - so very good for improving Nitrogen levels in soil.

Unfortunately mine never made it to this size (photo), they're long gone...

Re: Self care by growing a garden

I have several of these (backyard, & in pots).

Lantana montevidensis - it's the only Groundcover that that survivived in my garden.

Not a weed in WA (does not generally self-seed), & can still be bought from nurseries.

Blooms in February - Ramblings from a Desert Garden

Re: Self care by growing a garden

Lantana montevidensis White flower form - mine died (very showy).

Lantana montevidensis 'White' (White Lantana) - Mountain ...

Re: Self care by growing a garden

Yellow Spreader Lantana (Hybrid montevidensis/ camara).

Very heat & drought-resistant, very tough.

It's sterile - produces no seed (not invasive).

The councils used to plant them all over the Traffic islands & Footpaths (here in WA).

I don't think they are sold anymore (not available).

Mine is still going Healthy & Strong....

Re: Self care by growing a garden

Woolly Bush (Adenanthos sericeum) - from south-west WA.

Mine is very healthy (3m wide, 2m high).

Very soft, fluffy leaves.

I just wish it would flower more.

The flowers are tiny Red flowers, hidden between the leaves (not very visible).

Re: Self care by growing a garden

Oh @Shaz51 I hope it gets healthier & happier (more flowers).

My 2 Bottlebrushes died (viminalis).

This one is my only survivor - it's Callistemon King's Park Special (hybrid).

It's happy out by my Letterbox (front).

¿Limpiatubos o Callistemon citrinus?

Re: Self care by growing a garden

Yes well there are No Flowers on my Bottlebrush (at the moment) @Shaz51 Absolutely None.

It's looking healthy.

But Bottlebrushes only flower once (Spring) here generally, then they are bare until next year.

It's too hot & dry here.

I have a very small one of these -

Queensland Umbrella tree (Schefflera actinophilla) - which I grew from seed myself, 16 years ago.
