BPD coping strategies

Re: BPD coping strategies

I found all these dbt skills weird and dumb at first and frankly wasn't interested and the safety plan(s) made were just crumbled up pieces of paper and ignored...

But then I found that tweaking certain things is beneficial AND doing it more than once ,for a longer period of time until my brain recognises ,hey this or that is making me feel this or that way.

I use distractions like walking, meditation or just having headphones on blasting music and singing is helping. When I can't access any of these, because I'm at work or something - I have 1 person that I send a safety word to... ours is PEACHES.

All he does is telling me: Stop! Or Don't! Or behave yourself!

That usually snaps me out of it, or he rings me and only let's it ring 2 times and hangs up.

And if that doesn't help then he reminds me of strategies, as when I am in a crisis mode, I forget.

1 big strategy of mine is taking frozen peas (or any small frozen vegetable) and hold it to my chest.

All of this sounds odd and chaotic, hoping it makes some sense?
