It’s great to see you around the forums again @Appleblossom!
I hope you’re having a fantastic day whatever you’re getting up to. Happy public holiday to everyone in WA. Enjoy your day off!
As for me, I’ve been absent last week due to having to care for my housemate/best friend who has been going through some physical and mental health issues which has been pretty intense to say the least. The health system here in VIC isn’t the best when it comes to mental health support and services in my region so I’ve been having to help her with her issues, including trying to find suitable supports and strategies as her mental health worker isn’t the best - wants her to use her private health insurance when no private hospital will take her and she can’t get a psychiatrist either- and they’re refusing to acknowledge this. It’s like I’m doing the mental health workers job for him and not getting paid for it! At least I’m getting experience in other areas of mental health issues so that’s both a great thing and a learning experience for me which is good for me. I’m also getting valuable experience as a carer and am learning a lot from my carer peer worker with whom I’m linked into including a range of new self care strategies and other carer related things.
As for other things in my life right now, I’m now knitting beanies for my old uni as part of a wellness initiative they’re doing so I’ll send them off as soon as I’ve completed my goal of 20 beanies - 6 done so far. My mental health is actually okay - better than I expected after the things I’m dealing with (housing issues, last minute cruise things, financial issues, relationships, etc) and I’m okay with what is happening to me. I’ve discovered the benefits of writing a to do list and enjoy marking things off when I’ve completed them as it helps to keep me focused and set goals for myself.
Take care and enjoy your day!

@Dreamy Hope you and Caspar are alright.
@Judi9877 it great to hear from you. Love your knitting.., even though I no longer do it myself. It’s great you are learning and supporting your friend.
Hmmm …..about the rigidity and limitations of the system and some paid support workers. I am glad I let go of one 18 months ago, as if I put up with her, I probably would have imploded and no longer been here, but I learned to be assertive in the peer work space, and listened to my gut, and ended up with a good support worker.
