Re: Night Shift

Thanks @eth .  I really appreciate it.

Support is increasing in a number of ways.  Probably why I am feeling so tired.  Some of the strain is coming off, for the moment.

Re: Night Shift

Really appreciate that special connection too 💗

Re: Night Shift

It's not showing up yet. I'll tell you when I can see the image. .
I have two daughters who have become artists. It's an expensive art form. It cost me an absolute fortune in canvases, oil paints, film and developing chemicals. I have many canvases in my garage and all the extra paraphernalia none of which can be reused or for that matter thrown away. Parents are very useful for storing all the stuff. Pity there's no room for my car.

Re: Night Shift

@Faith-and-Hope my adult child is legally blind (since being 3 months premmie) and now 27 and living independently so it's a different situation but I have really lived the combination of having my own mental health issues and being a full-time carer at the same time.  Life can be so challenging some days.

When faced with the 'what ifs' I try to say 'so what then' and work out a plan to deal with if the 'if' comes to be.  And then quite often it doesn't!  - Does that even make sense?!  I learned this in a CBT course I did.  They called it 'unpacking' the problem.

Re: Night Shift

Perfect sense @eth
It's one of my many strategies that allows me to be prepared without having to worry too much. I was a 10 week premmie back in the days when survival was the exception. I was fortunate enough to lose only mmy peripheral vision.

Re: Night Shift

@Kurra How great that you have enough vision to drive a car.

Re: Night Shift

Just popping in for a late night visit. Bit wired though it's close to bedtime so thought I'd say hi to anyone who is still around. Looks like @eth and @Kurra at the moment. *waves*

Re: Night Shift

My daughter is hearing and vision impaired, and tactile defensive.  They are your three main learning receptors.  She is very bright tho, and has made her way around all the early health issues (first seven years of life, several operations, and can now read and write, reads and plays music, and plays up with attitude as much as her siblings do !

One sad aspect is that she was bright enough from a young age to realise that her younger siblings were far more able than her, and it has been distressing for her to watch their development overtake her.  She is quite territorial for that reason.  But it's all part of the mix at the end of the day.  She has benefitted from being sandwiched into the relationships.  Copying what the others were doing along the way was probably her finest teaching, and they are very patient with her when sibling rivalry doesn't get in the way, as it does occasionally 😊

People are people, and she is who she is, warts and all like the rest of us.  We have lowered the bar for her where necessary for her to reach it, but the expectation as she was growing up was that she had to get on and learn, and do what she could do within her limitations, just like everybody else.

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Mazarita good to see you 🙂

@Faith-and-Hope you sound like a wonderful parent and carer.
