Re: Functioning with ADHD

@Ru-bee I often experience weakness even outside of period, but my period can contribute to that weakness. I need to get more blood work done next week, it has to be done after my period finishes.

I don’t think I have great circulation either, I can do a bit of pmr. I feel like I’m supposed to eat soon, just have to wait for the rice to be done

Re: Functioning with ADHD

Yeah food might help @creative_writer what are you having with your rice tonight?

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@Ru-bee even though I’m meant to eat between lunch and dinner, I never seem to. I don’t get hungry due to stomach issues. I might have fish and some salad. What are you having for dinner?

Re: Functioning with ADHD

Ooh fish and salad sounds good @creative_writer now I kind of wish that's what I was having.

I'm doing steak, salad and rice tonight, actually pretty similar, hey? Just different protein 😊 I've been trying to eat more red meat because every time I get a blood test my iron is low

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@Ru-bee that sounds lovely. I probably should have red meat for dinner tomorrow, periods can be physically draining. I need to do a full iron panel next week as part of my bloods, just want to make sure it’s all okay. Apparently there is also an optimal level for iron. My sister was just on the border, it was within normal range for her but far from being optimum. She also struggles with cold hands and feet. Symptoms can appear even if someone is low normal

Re: Functioning with ADHD

Oh I wonder what the optimum level is! @creative_writer I'm also probably due for my annual blood test and check up, this is good reminder, I'm actually going to book it in now!

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@Ru-bee optimum might depend on circumstances and obviously you wouldn’t want to be too close to cut off. The GP suggested raising iron levels for my sister, but she was like 2 points above the minimum. Getting blood work is always good, just to monitor things. I’ve had multiple blood work done this year, but I have chronic symptoms, so I’ve been tested for different things. I’m just hoping that I finally get it all under control and I do get answers. I went to a GP who isn’t the type to brush things off. The last thing you want to be told is that it is in your head

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@creative_writer yessss the melbourne winter has been drying my skin out way more too!

i relate, my hair is soooo thin now and very frizzy. my hair just breaks and falls out more easily. i also straighten my hair sometimes, so there's definitely heat damage too. i've tried to embrace my curls recently, it's still a work in progress!

that makes sense, it does take some time to see the effects of those dietary changes on our body. how are you holding up today?

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@rav3n Melbourne winter is not great for dry skin. I relate to thin hair, I’m trying to figure out what is physically going on for my body right now. It grows so slowly. I’ve somewhat decreased shedding by massaging, but I think the internal problem needs to be worked on.

I’m still exhausted, moody and frustrated. However, I’m digesting my food better. I’ve noticed improvements in digestion, other things might take time. My hands are also achy, pain around joints is not fun. Nobody has been able to figure out why, apparently it can happen in celiac and non celiac gluten intolerance. Whatever it is, I hope it resolves. My ability to grip things has been affected. My x ray and other autoimmune disorders were clear (apart from celiac which I’m waiting for). Though I got referred to rheumatologist, I’m hoping I don’t need it, the wait has been insane and haven’t even gotten in. They said COVID affected appointments, it’s been a while since COVID

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@creative_writer Hey hun!

Saw you are trialling gluten-free, hope that whatever the outcome, you get lots of info from it!!

How's other stuff for ya?
