Re: Functioning with ADHD

@AuntGlow I think it’s just the reality of life, you can’t always avoid triggers and sometimes they pop up in unexpected places. Everyone has triggers, even those without mental illness.

I feel like two parts of me are at tug of war. I want to grow from everything I’ve experienced, but at the same time I want to escape from it because it feels so painful. Not sure how to make the former stronger

Re: Functioning with ADHD

Yes, an inner tug-of-war is a great way to describe that feeling. @creative_writer

How are things feeling today - what way are you leaning? 💛

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@AuntGlow I feel sort of stuck in the tug of war. I can’t wait for the flashbacks to disappear before reaching growth. I need to somehow growth while experiencing discomfort. My mind is like if you’re still getting them so frequently, you probably aren’t growing enough

Re: Functioning with ADHD

You've touched on a really good reflection here: growth happens in moments of discomfort. I know it's the most awful feeling at times, truly... I also know how empowering it is when you're able to reflect upon your growth. You truly do deserve a flourishing and joyful life @creative_writer. And you are on your way, you are growing. I know you can do this. One step at a time. 💛

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@AuntGlow it’s probably a lot to expect the flashbacks to disappear. I guess it takes time. Maybe it is about growing in the midst of discomfort, doesn’t make it easier, but it gives you a realistic goal to aim for
