Self-care Toolkit

Self-care Toolkit

Moderated

I was listening to the radio the other day and they were talking about Christmas and how families sometimes send care packages from home... but it got me thinking, I don't get care packages but I have my various survival kits, like for the dentist, the shopping centre...

This is what I have in one of mine

  • 150 piece jigsaw puzzle
  • mp3 player
  • Headphones
  • Notebook
  • Pen
  • Fidgets
  • Puzzle book
  • Essential oil roll on
  • Hot chocolate sachet
  • My BB8 keep cup
  • A few brain teasers
  • In a cute little kids backpack

So I was wondering with it coming upon Christmas, what does your self-care toolkit look like? What extra little things could you do or have on hand to help care for you during this potentially difficult period?

@Bunniekins did you make it yourself? I have the ingredients to make some except for the bananas. I love banana bread!

I had to settle for chocolate cup cakes 😋

Re: Self-care Toolkit

Hello everyone, @Shaz51 @Bunniekins @ENKELI @tyme

I learnt a concept from my high school Japanese teacher several years ago: it sounds simple, yet practically can be very complicated if you let it. Balance.

So for me, self-care is about balance and moderation. A balanced diet. Balanced daily activity: going for a walk or other exercise after desk work. Balanced thoughts, avoiding too much rumination or worry, relaxing these with self-compassion and gratitude. Balance of sleep, work and play/leisure. It all sounds good in theory, but takes a certain measure of discipline.

And then, sleep hygiene. I have been putting away my phone an hour before bedtime, which is why I've been spending less time here.

See what I mean? Simple in theory, more challenging to execute!

What do you think?

@Spirit_Healer  hey Spirit_Healer that is a system that i am working on and have been doing for some time.  baby steps .... baby steps i think is the key and consistancy where possible.  thank you for including me.  bunnie x

Re: Self-care Toolkit

@Spirit_Healer definitely difficult to put into practise but definitely worth it if you can.

I think my biggest problem is that I have no energy or motivation so I rely on "easy" - premade meals for example.

Thanks for sharing, I hope to get motivated as soon as my physical health improves.
