Re: Night Shift

Glad the accident didnt put you off social music for good. Hope they fix it so it doesnt happen again.  Was it on a stage of some kind?

I had figured that I wasnt good at fashion as I had to sew clothes and that took all my effort and didnt know what they looked like til they were done and on, so just settled for what was.

I have also been very frugal and learning to relax a bit more and wear clothes that I would use only for "good" and even wearing them sometimes to the shops or for teaching. So I guess that is good. Sometimes I would recycle bright things cos I didnt feel comfortable, but I like my red wool blazer, so keeping that.

I am getting a bit cold and tired so might go to bed, catch up soon. @Mazarita

Re: Night Shift

Hi all. Just dropping in to say hello. Been a little ill the last couple of days & feeling a bit down. Sleeping a lot & minds a little lost right now.

Busy afternoon/evening tomorrow. Mothers surprise 80th birthday party is finally here after a few problems getting things together. Right now don't really feel like going but as I helped organise it I guess I better. Just hope I feel better.

Take care all.

Re: Night Shift

dear Apple,
i dont know how to write this without sounding arrogent. Tim Winton..... when i read Cloud Street. and The Riders i was.....addicted but i hate his newish stuff. Ive got the book Eerie ....yeah .....hes got no idea. yeah ille probably read it again, but i think he hasnt caught it yet . and I LOVE his style of writing. o thought Mystic Tree was dissappionting. . he lives near me so i need to re eead in case i see him. but i live in the poor area.

Re: Night Shift

No I dont think that is an arrogant opinion.  You are generally too enthusiastic and intellectually discriminating YES @PeppiPatty ... to seem like that to me. I cant stand the Bogans who say everything is c**p without having a clue.

I ws out of the loop so long when kids were little and renos etc ... I barely had time or concentration to read a newspaper or watch the news for over 10 years .. Later, when i was Bookclub Co-ordinator I heard about Cloudstreet and Dan Brown etc ... but as I have usually been too poor to ever be uptodate ... I thought about it as everyone jumping on a bandwagon and was used to NOT being on it.  I read "Dirt Music" with the clubs and thought it was reasonable and I did like "Cloudstreet", but I didnt really like "Breathe" about (surfing). I liked the prose about the ocean and waves but not the basic thrust of the storyline. I read the reviews about "Eyrie," knew I had experienced enough of the high rises irl .. so was not really interested.  I thought he was fishing around to milk tragedy to sell books.  So thanks you confirmed my intuition.  As a kiwi he was an outsider looking in ... so he could make some insightful statements about Oz Kulcha  ... but so can others. I am always wary of what I call ... the slushygush ... about anything.

I have never been addictive about books ... dont know why ... mybe its my escape so I dont get fixated ... I always like to browse freely ... did you hear about @Mazarita and random reading?  The American lit Lady said that I would want to read everything by one author when I found one I liked ... and when I replied I wasnt like that at all ...she was offended ...  there is far too much going on in the world to limit me to one author or genre.

Hi @Drac0 We like you dropping in ... it keeps us from being just a women's group and being something more ...

Hope today is good too @Mazarita and @Shaz51 and @Former-Member

Re: Night Shift

Hi all....

Just trying to re-enter this thread here...

Books/Reading - I've nearly finished re-reading all the John Grisham novels I own (that I can find).

I recently went to a Lifeline bookfest & got some novels that have been made into movies that I enjoyed - The Help, Catch Me If You Can, The Lincoln Lawyer (NOT John Grisham like I thought @PeppiPatty) etc.

I tend to chose books randomly too....

Tim Winton was mentioned on Offspring & my partner asked me if I had read any of his books. I haven't, but I'm willing to see if I enjoy his writing ~ which is his best book? Opinions?

Re. YOGA ~ For 4 weeks I went to yoga x 3 (when I first got my 6 month membership), then the next week I only managed x 2, then the next week I went x 4, this week I have been x 3, but only practised x 2 - this morning I was faint & had to stop & lay in the reception area until my partner came & picked me up. The instructor & a student were kind to me & looked after me. It took awhile for the dizziness to subside. I'm not quite sure what caused the low blood pressure this morning. I will hopefully go & be able to practice tomorrow morning.... I have kept up this yoga practice while experiencing physical exhaustion, which is the reason I haven't been posting much on the forums.

I need to have a rest now....

Take care all,

Namaste,

A

Re: Night Shift

Glad to hear from you @Former-Member  Enough is enough .. doing all that yoga is fantastic. COngrats

There are probably a range of things that caused the low blood pressure.

Rest well and Namaste

Re: Night Shift

Hi all,

@Drac0, hope your mother's 80th birthday went well, and that your health and mood lifted so that you enjoyed it too. As @Appleblossom said, it's good to see you and @Jacques posting here.

@Former-Member, glad to see you. Admiring your strong dedication to yoga, as always. I've been to some of the Lifeline book fairs too in the past, they are great, so much interesting reading. Tim Winton's 'Cloudstreet' is the one I liked the most out of the few novels of his I have read. Rest well and hope you are feeling more energy when you awake.

@Appleblossom, I have liked both random reading and following particular authors sometimes too. At the moment I'm reading about a book every month or so.

@PeppiPatty@Shaz51, hope the day has been kind to you both.

Hello @Shaz51 I'm good thanks. I work on the weekends but still get some time to myself 😉

Re: Night Shift

Hi @Former-Member,

It is so nice to see you posting here again 🙂 i have missed you so much, you sound like you are a little better, how have your moods been? Yoga is so good for control of the mind, i am so glad you practice it so often. have you thought of tai-chi? it focuses on breathing too.

@Mazarita, i am sorry for being away for a while, i have not wanted to upset anyone with my low mood, i am so scared of myself sometimes, i don't want to scare all of you lovely people.

hope you all haave a good night, mine is good so far, on my second last coffee for the night 😄
