Re: Night Shift

That is good that you are ok now after your nap Heart-- @Appleblossom

I try to not make the workload too much for my hubby which is hard because he doesn`t know when to stop , but he is learning --taking a longggg time

Re: Night Shift

Hi everyone, haven't yet caught up with this discussion from yesterday. Just wanted to say I'm here for more chat for a while tonight if anyone else is staying around. @Appleblossom@Shaz51, it was so great getting out of the flat today. Feel heaps better for it and for the Feldenkrais physio session. @PeppiPatty, I've been thinking about your son and the green. Simply tallying how many he is having each day might be the best start. That is what the psychologist got me to do the first week. Heart

Re: Night Shift

Glad to hear your enthusiasm about having a good day out of the flat. @Mazarita Yes I will be around a bit and would love a chat.

@Shaz51 Unfortunately I am one of those who doesnt know when to stop.  I tend to go until I collapse and then again next day.  Am slowly getting better at pacing myself and reading my inner signs, but it has taken a lifetime.

Are there any things you do with hub that are more relaxing than working?  How long have you been with him?

Re: Night Shift

@PeppiPatty, @Shaz51, just read your messages asking about the mood stabilisers. They started doing something here almost immediately but I think the effect also builds up and got better for me over a longer time. I wouldn't say my moods in daily life are really stable but the medication kind of puts a top and bottom to the states that otherwise swing more extremely out of whack. Good to hear you are feeling cared for, @PeppiPatty. Me too. I think they have to talk about weight for medical reasons but for me it's a sensitive subject. I was feeling zapped today but pushed through it and got out to two appointments about half an hours bus ride from here. It's right near where I used to live when I first got to this city and I enjoyed hanging around with some good memories of that place.@Appleblossom, I finished Robert Dessaix's 'Corfu' and enjoyed it. Now I'm reading Peter Carey's novel about Ned Kelly, very into it.

Re: Night Shift

Ah "The [ironic] True Story ... "  Yes that is on my list.  Do you like Tim Winton?

I do so much reading and taking in courses online, so I dont read real books as much as I used to.

I started one about Jamaica recently but keep getting distracted.  Also reading about a French amnesiac from WWI and the French MH system back then.

@PeppiPatty was floating around on the carers forum.

Not sure how @Drac0 is.  He seems fairly together in many ways, so not worrying, just wondering.

Re: Night Shift

@Appleblossom, I like most books I read from cover to cover otherwise I stop before the end. Tim Winton I like, yes. Followed an idea of 'random reading' in the past, basically trying out anything that came before my eyes, online or offline. Read a lot over the years, including plays earlier on, just not so many novels in the past few years. In that time I've been reading a fair bit of writing online.

Re: Night Shift

I read less novels at the moment as I really felt the need to catch up on my awareness of ... recent history, science, news, history of the internet etc.

Also my novel reading was often prescribed or a part of work.  I like your idea of reading what was before your eyes.  I did that for a while at the library and would come back with all sorts picture books cookbooks and got my ideas re fashion ... ha ha ... which now apparently is labelled "shabby chic" cant get away from those blooming labels.  I was offended when some one said it to me ... then realised it was a new "thing".

Re: Night Shift

Those library adventures sound fun! My clothes are functional with fairly bright colours, darker in winter or when I'm in Melbourne. I think of Melbourne as black city. I wore so much black when I was there too. Body changes with menopause and medication have had their effect on what I wear. I don't spend that much time on it these days but feel better when I'm enjoying clothes. It's great that you are widely read on many subjects.

Re: Night Shift

Its really only been since I left husband that I have had the time to get into colour.  I experimented with my cheap op shop tries.  At first I couldnt wear bright things as I was very much a black .. cos it matches everything or was needed for waitressing and then later to perform in.  I was upset when one old lady at church asked me why my clothes were so gloomy (about 6 years ago).  I thought I had been making an effort, and I knew she wasnt intending to be mean, she was such a quirky innocent old soul.  She died a few years ago a proud 90 year old virgin.  RIP

It has helped me to get to know more people and how they tick.  I try not to get to upset with direct comments, but it didnt help in this latest choir kerfuffle.   Sometimes people are too direct and really not that diplomatic. Now that I have claimed my "I" maybe its time to start using "you" a bit more.  Actually a lot of time people dont seem to like to be labelled with any words at all.

Bummer about that fall.  Do you think you will go back to opshop or music group when you are back to normal?

Re: Night Shift

When I was married I had very few clothes. It might relate to what you were saying earlier about feeling like we maybe don't deserve things. There are also the financial considerations that are real for us. I relate to remembering things years later like with the comment about your clothes. I have a swag of various moments that come back to pester and/or disturb me at times too. I enjoyed wearing a lot of black back then. I wore it for work too. I plan to go back to the music group this week.
