Case management

Re: Case management

@tyme @Bow @Ed1975

so not so good a start. I had an appt for 12today. At 10am they rang me saying they changed my appt to yesterday and wondering why I did not show up. I told them I never received any communication from them. They said they left a message so I told them I never received any  than she said they left a message and the dr waited for me and I never showed up  so I told them I was with my phone all day and I never received a phone call or message from them.
she decided to look in the notes and realised they rang the wrong number. No apologies though.
so now I have an appointment for Monday at 10am. I just hope somebody will explain to the dr why I didn't show up so he/she doesn't hold it against me.

Re: Case management

hrmm @snowflake231 ,

Well let's just say that wasn't the best start! Oh no!

Fingers cross things improve from here and they don't make the same mistake!

Sitting with you. How you feeling about everything?

Re: Case management

@tyme

A bit apprehensive. I've written down a list of my symptoms so I wouldn't forget anything as I get stressed in these situations and only remember the bare minimum  they rang me late Friday to say if I could come at 9:30 instead of 10 as the dr wants to spend more time with me so I suppose that's good.

Re: Case management

I hear your concerns @snowflake231 and your hesitations. Sitting with you and hope it all goes well. I hope you will have the strength to advocate for your own needs. So glad you have been able to note some symptoms and points you'd like to discuss.

I look forward to hearing how it goes. At least you have opportunity to give this a try to see if it helps 🙂

Re: Case management

@snowflake231 case management is overall very lacklustre and unhelpful in my lived experience and at times harmful.

i only coped when i shared the experience of case management with a private psychiatrist. when i lost the private psychaitrist because i was given bad advice by a peer worker who perhaps didn't have my best inerests at heart, I became unwell and couldn't really benefit.

Just a gentle suggestion but some case management teams support you having a shared care arrangement with a private pschiatrist - absoluety the best of both worlds.

Re: Case management

@tyme

The appointment went really well. I didn't mind the doctor and the social worker. I was as honest as I could be. They said they will most probably offer me a spot but they have to run it by some head dr tomorrow morning so I should hear from them tomorrow afternoon. So we will just have to wait and see.

Re: Case management

@EternalFlower

I don't have a private psychiatrist and I can't afford one so case management is my hope of being to be able to see one.

Re: Case management

So glad to hear it went well @snowflake231 ! When you mean

"offer you a spot", do you mean assign you a case manager? I was just given one so I wanted to clarify...just in case I missed anything.

I wonder if they have peer workers they can connect you with too.

I hope this gives you a bit of hope in navigating what you are going through.

Also, with case management, did they say how long?

Re: Case management

@tyme  Yes they have assigned me a case manager. I have my first meeting with her on Wednesday 11th. Here is hoping they can help me.
