Welcome to all our new Shoulder To Shoulder members.
We’d love to hear a bit about what brought you here and what you’re hoping to get out of it.
We’ve put together a quick 5-minute survey to help us understand who’s using the space and how we can make it more helpful for veteran families, carers and kin.
Your answers will be stored securely and won’t be visible to anyone on the forum.
Inside the survey, we’ll ask for your email so we can follow up with a second survey in a few months, BUT taking part is totally optional, as are all of the questions inside the survey, and your details won’t be shared outside SANE. https://q.surveys.unimelb.edu.au/jfe/form/SV_7aBEjP4zNi6FeE6
If you’d rather share your thoughts with the whole group, feel free to post here in this thread.

Thanks for sharing @Trash . It sounds incredibly hard. Is your friend linked in with any supports and services?

He has medical help with his white .
DVA card. Home help may be possible through Homes For Heroes but attendance at Ramsay Health for mental health assessment is necessary. Residential program there with no exit possible until assessment complete. While battling cancer with all the medical appointments, a residential program is impossible..

Hey @Trash, thanks for sharing your experiences with the community!
Sounds like you and the person you are supporting are going through a bit atm which I bet would be challenging. You are demonstrating your resilience by reaching out to your peers here on Shoulder to Shoulder and being vulnerable when it's hard to share.
I believe the community of Veteran's Families will have some insights to share with you!
Thanks again for posting on the Forums 🙂
Take care

Hi @Trash
I'm sorry to hear about your friend, and I am sure it is hard on you too! Open Arms have Clinical Care Coordinators who can assist with referrals to housing benefits and options for Veterans. I would be encouraging your friend to call Open Arms for support.
If you need urgent assistance, see Need help now
