Living in Chronic Pain effecting my mental health

Re: Living in Chronic Pain effecting my mental health

Hi @Jake13

I live in Australia - we all do - this forum is not available overseas.

Also - I live in Melbourne - this is fortunate - there are a lot of pain clinics in this city - one way to find them is to look at Google Maps and type in Pain Clinics.

The public and private systems have a vast difference. If you can pay private insurance - then you have access to private hospitals - and this means you have access to treatment not available in public systems because of the cost. There is so much more treatment available if you can see a private pain specialist - it's expensive but totally worth it if you can afford it. Medicare does rebate some of the cost. A private pain specialist can admit you to a private hospital if this is what you have and need.

The public system is pretty dismal - I have been though that - still - there are a variety of public clinics and you might find a good one - it just depends on whatever - which is rough I do know.

There are restrictions on some kinds of pain medication now too. Somewhere in the system there are people who imagine some pain medication is a bad idea - this makes it tough - of course a pain specialist can over-ride that - but it does depend on the specialist.

I wish you the best - I know what the journey is like - I'm still living it - better though with the treatment I am having now.

Also - thank you for your kind comments
