Struggling with MH

Re: Struggling with MH

ok, thank you for that information, I did not know i could do that.  I might do that as well.  There is no magic pill to take to feel better.  I am now taking lavender pills and rescue remedy to quell my feelings down a bit and also taking meds now to also help however, once I am on my own, I just fall down in my MH and cant seem to cope.  I feel like I want to sleep all the time and struggle to get my work done.

Re: Struggling with MH

Hey @magpie4 ,

It's like a place we have all been @magpie4  - you are not alone.

I can honestly say that I've been in a similar hole. It wasn't easy. I didn't choose to be in it. I hear how much you are trying @magpie4 .

Did you manage to get out of the house today?

Also, you can type "@" in front of my name so I don't miss your messages 🙂 e.g @tyme

Re: Struggling with MH

apologies @tyme, when I did that before, then I did not get any responses so I thought this was incorrect.  Hopefully this is right now.

I did go out of the house today and played golf.  this sounds like I am having a great time however, this is me pushing myself to do something, to get out of the house where I am on my own constantly upset.  I still have to work and get this done when I get home.  However all the time I am out, I am also in my head, and telling myself to STOP thinking.  then when I come home, I am back to square one again, and then in that state, I have to work as well.

Re: Struggling with MH

All good @magpie4 . I just don't want to miss your messages 🙂

I'm glad you were able to get yourself out to play golf. Yet at the same time, I can certainly relate to the rumination that is occurring. It's as though the more you tell yourself to stop thinking, the more you think instead! In the past, for me, I was physically there but not there.

So it sounds like thoughts are just going round and round in your mind? Have you ever tried to challenge these thoughts?

Re: Struggling with MH

How do you mean "challenge the thoughts" @tyme . I see him and hear him in my head all the time. I try to push them out.

Re: Struggling with MH

Perhaps 'trying to push them' out is what is making them stay @magpie4 . I learnt this through my own experiences. The more I didn't want to think something, the more I thought about it.

What worked for me was diverting the thoughts. That is, accepting that they are there, but changing the course of the thoughts. For example, thinking about a certain thought might make you feel very low. However, partway, while thinking this thought, you may want to link it to a more positive thought. This will teach your brain that thinking this thought is no longer a 'negative' experience.

Re: Struggling with MH

Thats very hard to do @tyme but sounds logical

Re: Struggling with MH

Hello @tyme and @Snowie . Am back on my own page. Very tired today

Re: Struggling with MH

@magpie4 have you got any plans for today at all? Anything you can make anything into a goal? Doesn't have to be big ones.

My first goal today was getting out of bed and getting dressed! One goal ticked of.

Re: Struggling with MH
