sleep paralysis

sleep paralysis

does anybody else get sleep paralysis? i am so sick of it and nothing seems to help much like i sleep on my side or stomach because it doesnt happen as much that way but it is super scary and uncomfortable and sometimes it stops me being able to breathe and it feels awful like you are dying and falling at the same time. idk if it is even sleep paralysis or not because it doesnt seem to match many other peoples experiences with sleep paralysis so i am not even sure that is what it is plus for me it can last anywhere up to 3 hours at a time and despite it being incredibly exhausting the only way to get away from it is to get up and stay awake for a least 3-4 hours which as you can imagine is not helpful if it happens at the start of the sleep cycle. anyway does anyone have any experience with this?

Re: sleep paralysis

Dunno @Eden1919 but I've experienced something maybe similar on high doses of oral meds. And other times I'd wake up with a dead arm. I used to try to go to sleep in the recovery position. And I used an extra pillow, one pillow wasn't high enough, that helped with the sensation of not being able to breathe.

Re: sleep paralysis

Yes, i get this sometimes. @Eden1919  and it's usually (for me) a result of sleep deprivation. 9 times out of ten, if I've stayed up an entire night or so, it will occur...

Re: sleep paralysis

@Eden1919 I had sleep apnoea recently or sleep paralysis - I would wake up not being able to breathe. I understand how traumatising it is. I had started taking Schuessler tissue salts around the same time which was a homeopathic remedy with an ethanol base. I did read somewhere alcohol does something to the wind pipe or airways causing it to relax too much so they collapse and you can't get air in or out. So when I stopped taking the tissue salts with the ethanol in it the apnoea went away. Have heard that overweight can cause it so you may wish to look into that. Do you drink alcohol, regularly?

Re: sleep paralysis

I don’t have sleep paralysis but sorry to hear that’s what your going with
sometimes I get up in the night turn light switches on/off, lock/unlock all the doors but I feel like that’s possibly a response to sleep deprebation or paralysis

Re: sleep paralysis

thanks everyone, it isnt the same as sleep apnoea and i dont drink alcohol so it isnt that. it could be sleep deprivation though i am having trouble getting quality sleep so it could be that.
