Hi @Jamc,

It is great that you are wanting to get back into art and exercise! These are two of my hobbies as well and I know first hand how hard it can be to get back into them. I struggle with going to the gym if there are a lot of people around too, I used to go very early to avoid the crowds. These days I work out with a personal trainer, which I find very helpful.

I still haven't managed to get back into art, I am trying to start with using colouring books, and doing some penpal swaps where the topic is set, I find that helps.

Thanks am realy interested in going 2 gym never done it besides my best friend from work took me the other week only spent 20 mins doing it but was on such a high 4 3 hours every 1 i talked 2 said keep going Jeff but i need 2 work when 2 go it is 24/7 but feel bad if 2 many people around

Re: How to get active

I found that when I went to the gym, I was worried about the other people, what they thought about me, but they were all really happy to see a new face, and give me some tips when they weren't too busy, so it wasn't a big deal at all - beyond finding a sweet time to go so that I could have a chance at the machines that I wanted. 🙂

At the moment, I'm trying to run/walk/shamble a bit more, and I'm playing a game called Zombies, Run! 🙂 It's an audiobook that tells the story of a town/settlement/bunker after the zombie plague has hit - you play as Runner 5, who goes out into the wasteland and picks up emergency supplies, like batteries, bottles of water, axes, etc. However, if a horde of zombies see you.. you've got to RUN! It's mostly a fun way of getting you to get your bum out the door on a regular basis.

Re: How to get active

I found gyms great

in that you can go and talk to others or not

it doesnt really matter ...

Re: How to get active

@CannonSalt Zombies Run sounds like so much fun! Are there different stages? I've always struggled with finding motivation to run or pick up the pace while running - so this sounds like a wonderful idea.

Re: How to get active

Hi @CherryBomb - keep in mind I've only just started.
Do you mean difficulty settings, or do you mean is it something that might be stickable with for a long time?

In the settings section you can choose the length of time the audiobook episode plays over - 25 minutes, 40 minutes, or 60 minutes. You can switch random zombie chases on or off for each episode.

The audiobook episodes are released in seasons - season one has 23 episodes. As you run, you 'collect' items that will be useful back in the bunkertown of Abel - and you can repeat episodes to collect more stuff. There's a minigame where you've got a SimCity Abel that you can fortify. There's also a 'post runs to twitter' doohickey that might also be motivating. The free version gives you 'one unlock' per week or so - I'm still quite entertained by re-running old episodes, so I haven't worked that part out yet, how often you get an unlock.

The app is free, but you can subscribe to a pro membership for more features. I haven't, and so far it seems really clear about what's free and what's included in the subscription.

Re: How to get active

Hi@choomojo

Went to gym yesterday had a 40min instruction workout with karla a trainer she was good & gentle gave me a program to start slowy plus there was only about 5 people there but still felt anxious and started to panic a bit going back tomorrow when i can find a quit time it is 24/7

Re: How to get active

It might get easier once you start going more often - see some familiar faces, rather than strangers. What time of day do you feel most with it? Lunch time might be a good time if you're stuck in the urban sprawl, rather than in the city centre. Experiment with the time, and don't forget to take events (like the Melbourne Cup) into consideration. Can you ask a trainer what time would be a good time?
