Feeling Anxious About Seeing My Psychiatrist

Re: Feeling Anxious About Seeing My Psychiatrist

That's so great to hear @HermioneGranger .

If any time you feel like 'practicing' how to talk about something, feel free to practice on these forums. You don't have to disclose anything specific or in detail, but you can give it a general term instead. e.g. "I want to talk about how I've been feeling"

Do you have another appointment lined up?

Re: Feeling Anxious About Seeing My Psychiatrist

Hey @HermioneGranger , how are you?

Also, hello to you too @Flowerflesh @SillySausage  🙂 What's happening on everyone's side of the world?

Re: Feeling Anxious About Seeing My Psychiatrist

Ok thanks @tyme, I actually have my psychiatrist review this week and feeling nervous about it. Mainly because I don't feel prepared. Many meds I've tried haven't been right for me and the consults don't feel long or comprehensive enough to really work out a good plan. Feels like a lot of trial and error. I'm thinking about going back on some kind of anti-depressant, which I'm not excited about but need some kind of change in my moods. It's been really tiring having heaps of panic attacks and feeling low and flat. I have a young family and many hopes and dreams but it feels.as though it's on the other side of a very thick fog and over rough terrain. I'm trying really hard to connect more with loved ones and make new friends, exercise, be creative, journal, counseling, see my peer worker... I'm tired

Re: Feeling Anxious About Seeing My Psychiatrist

Hey @Flowerflesh ,

I'm sorry to hear this is happening.

I hear what you mean about the psychiatrist. And I'm guessing it's quite costly too. I only heard about the prices on the radio yesterday.

What has helped with my anxiety and panix attacks was to focus on the breath and being able to control it. This tends to help bring the body back to an equilibrium.

If you continue to feel concerned about how things are going, it may be good to speak to your dr - even if it means medication. I hear you aren't so thrilled about it though.
