Struggles with mental health

Re: Struggles with mental health

Thanks, @rav3n.

My siblings have been heavily supportive and have been watching out for me, despite initial shock and awe [edited by moderator]

Change and uncertainty are scary, and there are rumours about a slow and inactive job market, so being scheming and calculating can help me seal another job.

Re: Struggles with mental health

Hey there @Lowrida29 ,

Nice to meet you! Thank you for sharing a little about yourself.

I'm pleased to hear that your siblings have been so supportive.

You're right. Changes are scary. They take us out of our comfortzone and that can be a yucky feeling - especially if we are not ready or prepared.

Sometimes, these changes make us explore ways of moving forward - learning and growing.

Re: Struggles with mental health

Hi @tyme, nice to meet you.

Accepting change is hard, and my savings will take a hit. But, I think I am better prepared to discuss my experiences than when I was a graduate.

Re: Struggles with mental health

And that's the hard part. We know we need money to survive, but sometimes, we really struggle with our mental health so that working is hard... if you have a job, that is. @Lowrida29

The reality is, life is hard. And when you have MH challenges on top of that, it's even harder - so that the last thing you want is unexpected changes.

I hope that by reaching out to the community here, you will find support and a sense of connection and belonging.

Re: Struggles with mental health

How are you going today @Lowrida29 ?

Re: Struggles with mental health

Hi @tyme, I hope you are well and having a great long weekend.

I have spent the long weekend applying for jobs. I'm hoping I get a job interview and a job as soon as possible.

I have not told my parents about my resignation as I am afraid of their wrath.

Re: Struggles with mental health

Hey @Lowrida29 ,

Fingers crossed it goes well. It's good to see if you get any interviews. Then you will know if you need more work on your CV or not.

Applying for jobs is a full time job in itself!

I'm sorry to hear that your parents will get so upset if you don't have a job. I hope you can remember your own self-care.

Thinking of you and I look forward to hearing how things go.

Re: Struggles with mental health

Thanks @tyme. I just had my first screening interview since last week. Hope I get more interviews along the way.

Re: Struggles with mental health

hey @Lowrida29 just catching up on the posts and i see that your siblings have been a great support for you, so glad you have them to back you up. i hear you about the job market, i have my fingers crossed that june-july will open some more opportunities (esp graduate program roles).

telling your parents sounds hard. at the end of the day, you know what's working for you and what isn't. they don't know the full extent of how hard things have been for you, and it might be difficult for them to understand but that's okay - what matters is that you KNOW what's best for you right now. also hope the screening interview went well!!

Re: Struggles with mental health

Thanks, @rav3n

The screening interview went well. Since I had connected with the team manager at LinkedIn, I hope it could result in an opportunity.

I also hope I land a job in a month or two so that I don't feel guilty or regret leaving my current job and wasting my savings.
