Re: Functioning with ADHD

I’m doing what I can to settle SI. I’ve taken a shower, the thoughts still persist. I’ve taken PRN last night, but it doesn’t feel like it’s done much, it usually helps more. I know all I can do is keep trying with self care. I’m thinking of upping my saffron dose (maybe I should take a supplement dose) tomorrow to see if it helps with depression and ADHD symptoms. I feel like I’m running out of options

Re: Functioning with ADHD

Just wanted to say I’m safe

Re: Functioning with ADHD

hey @creative_writer i see that you're having a rough time, i really wish there was more i could do to help make those intrusive thoughts quieten down. i know you're doing your best with staying safe and keeping up with your self-care, sending you gentle hugs 💖

are you seeing your psych soon? have you talked to her about how intense the SI has been lately?

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@rav3n I don’t have my next appointment with my psych till next month, I’m running out of sessions and have only two left. I was saving the two for later this year. I have a psychiatrist appointment in just over two weeks, moving it forward is tricky as he does get booked out. My psychiatrist appointment was also initially in a month’s time, but was able to move it a bit forward. I think it would be great to get some support, I just have to wait

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@creative_writer oh nooo that's tough when you've only got the 2 sessions left! is paying full price for extra sessions an option for you? i do get that it can be really expensive too.

also wanted to ask, are you under 25? if you are interested, headspace does free 1-on-1 clinician sessions too for 12-25 yr olds, and i wonder if it would be worth reaching out to them in between your psych sessions?

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@rav3n it is expensive, especially since my private health insurance doesn’t cover it, I would have to increase my cover to get it covered.

I’m 25+ now, I know SANE also has a guided service, but I’ll need to wait until end of November to qualify for it. I wish therapy wasn’t so expensive, it’s harder when unemployed

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@rav3n I might be able to get free peer support sessions through a different service. I have to contact them

Re: Functioning with ADHD

ahh yep, absolutely hear you - it's tough rationing out the remaining sessions @creative_writer if you do end up trying that other peer support service, i'd be keen to know how it goes! is it a 1:1 peer support, a group one?

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@creative_writer and about the SANE guided service, i'm curious to know why you'd have to wait till nov? (i assumed that as long as you're 18+ and living in Aus, you'd be eligible so i just wanted to check if i've missed something)

Re: Functioning with ADHD

@rav3n I checked, the individual peer support isn’t available in my region 😔.

I used the guided service last year, my last appointment was on the 25th of November, I’ve been told I have to wait a year til I can rejoin. I would love to get more sessions, but I think I have to wait. I am currently with the 6 month RecoveryClub (so I do attend the group support sessions)
