Re: Diagnosis, Treatment and Labels - Support & Stigmatisation
Hello @Appleblossom
Thank you for the feedback. It is good to know when material is useful for others.
I have committed myself, courtesy of discussion with @StuF , to reading the book, so that I can give a (short) synopsis on completion.
@Lost9also gave feedback, particularly with regard to personal experience, which was very much appreciated.
Best Wishes

Re: Diagnosis, Treatment and Labels - Support & Stigmatisation
Hi, All, I find the stigma of going back into the community after discharge from the "Funny Farm" hurts so very much that I can't get interested in TV, (people trying to sell me things that I don't need and can't afford), that I go have gone to the pub for something to do. I either get drunk, have someone pushing substance abuse stuff to send me wacko then back into hospital not long after.
An alternative place for coffee and a chat with likeminded people does the job.

Re: Diagnosis, Treatment and Labels - Support & Stigmatisation
@HenryX What a great, short, overview, of what a complex issue, Mental Health (MH), in Australia, is.
Yes! The self-applied stigma, i know, very well.
Diagnosis of mood disorder/ schizoaffective disorder, was presented to myself, in 2003.
I have been working through this whole life journey, since i started uni, in 1996.
2003, post-diagnosis, and i was - shattered.
Felt, like my whole life had been taken away.
Anyways, i have made it through the subsequent 21 years, by working/ exercising/ socialising, and practising healthy habits, in order, to 'stay on track', and stay true to myself.
So many changes over the past 21 years, have i had to apply to my life.
All in order, to get better, and remain healthy.
It's just an additional daily item on the 'things to do' check-list: STAY HEALTHY, look after your MH.
Thanks for a nice, sequential, piece (above), on MH and stigma.
Really clearly written, understandable, relatable.
Thanks @HenryX
